Registration is now open for the first of our free photography and Instagram workshops.

We’re offering these workshops in Kyabram, Echuca and Rochester, thanks to Campaspe Shire Council who provided funding for them.

Creative smartphone photography with Trevor Phillips

1pm Saturday 30 September at Kyabram Town Hall (FULL)
1pm Saturday 7 October at Echuca Neighbourhood House
1pm Saturday 14 October at Rochester Community House (FULL)

This (roughly 2 to 3-hour) course will cover:

  • What makes a good photo, and how to get it
  • Common problems, and how to avoid them
  • Indoor portrait session, focusing on lighting and composition (note: participants will use each other as models, and agree not to share photos taken during this part of the workshop)
  • Outdoor walk, focusing on landscape and architecture
  • Smartphone features to help you get a better image
  • Uploading to Instagram.

What to bring:

  • Your smartphone, tablet or camera
  • A notepad and pen

Course facilitator:

Trevor Phillips has over 25 years’ experience as a professional photographer and educator. Along with running workshops and short courses, he manages his photographic studio concentrating on commercial photography.

Many of Trevor’s images have won awards from the Australian Institute of Professional Photography, at state and national levels.

A willingness to share his knowledge means Trevor has a loyal following of aspiring students, some of whom have gone on to work as professionals in photography.

Intro to Instagram

11am Saturday 30 September at Kyabram Town Hall

This 45-60 minute workshop will provide a basic overview of Instagram, discussing just enough to help you participate in Art for Everyone. It will cover:

  • Downloading and installing Instagram
  • Setting up your Instagram account
  • Posting to Instagram
  • Using hashtags.

What to bring:

  • Your smartphone or tablet. It would be helpful if you already have Instagram installed
  • A notepad and pen may be useful. We will provide printed notes for you.

Course facilitator:

Dey Alexander is the coordinator for the Art for Everyone project. She is the curator of the Community Gallery at Kyabram Town Hall where the project exhibition will be held in February/March 2018.
